The words we speak over ourselves matter. For February we spent time with our spiritual mentors. We spoke about identity and where/who that is found in. We did a craft where we wrote down the negative words that have been associated with our past on a canvas. Words that we and others have spoken over us in our past. The words that have stuck to our spirit for years.

We then began to paint over those words with white paint- just like when we start this brand new life in recovery, begin applying the steps and principles of our program, and hand over our will to God, the words began to fade away.

Next we painted the outline of a heart in vibrant colors onto our canvas. We picked a word to declare over ourselves because again, the words we speak have power to heal and grow or hurt and destroy.

Here at Ruth House, we are clearing out the old and welcoming in the new. We are cleaning up the wreckage of our past allowing for growth and change to take place.
